Example Nomination
I have known her for over four months. While this is a very short time, my family has come to know and love her through her excellent care of my son during his 54 day NICU stay.
This is, of course, a very difficult time for any family, and Ellie made it much more pleasant. My mind was always at ease when Ellie was assigned to my son for the day. She has great rapport with adults, which is not the case for all NICU nurses. When we had questions or concerns, she took the time and extreme patience to make sure we understood every step and were comfortable with everything. Ellie has an obvious love for these little babies, and all patients in general and takes great pride in her work.
Each day, I had to leave in the afternoon to get my daughter from school. She would make it a point to have her charting done by that time so she could take over cuddling him. This small gesture meant so much to me, and really was above and beyond what was expected.
Ellie is also a hard worker, and team player. She volunteered to work both Thanksgiving and Christmas, and covered shifts for co-workers a couple times while we were there.
